A practical challenge to be solved: how to design a device beyond existing types?

Importance and impact of the training module: The module, devoted to the simulation of the complete x-ray imaging chain using Monte Carlo methods, covers both theoretical and practical aspects of the transport of ionizing radiation, non-ionizing radiation and electrical charges and their coupling in (both direct and indirect) x-ray detection devices. This allows understanding the physical basics, explore systems beyond their actual design and study radiation dose and risk assessment without expensive dose measurements. Several general-purpose Monte Carlo codes exist, but the barrier to their use is high. The practical sessions will provide hands-on experience out of the first hand.
